# How we review and monitor use

Anyone can sign up for JobsPipe, and most accounts use it for job search, hiring signals and research. The data is only as trustworthy as the way it is used, so we control access, watch for misuse and act when we find it.

## How we control access

-   Live data is served only to accounts with an API key. Every request is tied to the account that made it.
-   Every plan has request rate limits and a monthly row cap, so no single account can take the whole dataset.
-   We automatically detect patterns that point to abuse, such as one person running many free accounts, account farming, and coordinated scraping of our own service.
-   We review high-volume and unusual use by hand, and may contact you to ask what you are building before your use continues.

## Zero tolerance for banned uses

Every account agrees to our [Acceptable Use Policy](/acceptable-use). Surveillance or profiling of individuals, discrimination, contact-list building and spam, impersonation, fake accounts, and reselling the data as a competing dataset are banned outright. There is no plan or price that makes them allowed.

## What happens when we find misuse

-   Limiting an account's requests or rows while we look into it.
-   Suspending or closing the account, under section 8 of our Terms of Service.
-   Banning every account that belongs to the same operation, not only the one we noticed first.

We have banned hundreds of accounts that were created to get around free-plan limits or to scrape JobsPipe through many accounts at once. Serious or repeated breaches lose access without refund, as the Acceptable Use Policy says.

## If we ask what you are building

A short, honest answer is usually enough. Tell us the product or research, who uses the output, and roughly how much data you need. If the use is allowed, we will help you find the plan that fits it.
