Does Glassdoor Have an API?

Does Glassdoor have an API? Not a public one: it was retired years ago and access is partner-only. Here is how to reach the same employers' postings.

Does Glassdoor have an API? Not one a developer can sign up for. Glassdoor retired its public API several years ago and now shares data only with approved partners, and what remains on its help pages describes a B2B insights product. JobsPipe does not collect Glassdoor either, but the same employers post on boards it does collect.

What to do when Glassdoor has no API

  1. Separate the three things people mean. Glassdoor holds job listings, company reviews and self-reported salaries. Job listings are the easiest to replace, because employers post the same role elsewhere. Reviews have no substitute outside Glassdoor. Self-reported pay can be approximated with the ranges employers now print on postings.
  2. Do not expect a partner key. The partner programme is aimed at established platforms and is granted case by case; there is no self-serve tier, no pricing page and no sandbox. Tutorials that describe a working Glassdoor jobs API predate the shutdown.
  3. Do not scrape it. Glassdoor’s terms prohibit automated access, most content sits behind a login wall and bot detection is aggressive. The legal picture for scraping logged-in content is worse than for public pages. A scraper here costs more than the data is worth.
  4. Find the same postings on collected boards. Glassdoor and Indeed share a parent company, and much of the job inventory overlaps. Most employers also publish through an applicant tracking system such as Greenhouse, Lever, Workday or Ashby, and cross-post to LinkedIn. Querying those sources by company name returns the role you saw on Glassdoor, with dates and a status attached.
  5. Take salary from the posting. A share of employers state a range on the posting itself. On Indeed, 36.8% of active postings carry one; on Y Combinator the figure is 67.7%. Filter with min_salary_usd and every row that returns has a stated floor.

The full status of Glassdoor’s data access, and what its remaining products offer, is on the Glassdoor source page. Indeed is a different story with a similar answer: see does Indeed have an API. If reviews are the reason you wanted the API, the honest answer is that no third-party feed replaces them; the reviews are the part Glassdoor guards most closely.

Where JobsPipe fits

JobsPipe is a jobs data API that collects live postings from LinkedIn, Indeed, Y Combinator, Naukri, Workday, Greenhouse, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Ashby, Lever and Paylocity, returns them as one schema with closure tracking and a ghost score, and includes a free tier of 1,000 jobs a month. It does not collect Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, Monster or CareerBuilder. To reach the employers you would have looked up on Glassdoor, query by company:

curl -X POST https://api.jobspipe.dev/v1/jobs/search \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $JOBSPIPE_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "company_name_or": ["Shopify", "Datadog"], "status": "any", "limit": 50 }'

Each result carries sources[0].provider, so you can see which board the posting came from, plus status, closed_at and ghost_score. Add posted_at_max_age_days to keep only recent requisitions, or set status to closed to see what the employer filled or withdrew in the same window. The full reference is on the jobs API page.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Glassdoor jobs API?

No public one. Glassdoor's developer API was retired several years ago and its remaining programmes are partner-only, with no self-serve keys, pricing or sandbox. The page still labelled API on Glassdoor's help site describes a B2B employer-insights product rather than a developer endpoint.

Can I scrape Glassdoor?

It is technically possible and a poor idea. Glassdoor's terms prohibit automated access, most pages sit behind a login wall, and bot detection is aggressive. Scraping content behind a login carries more legal exposure than public pages. For job postings, query the boards where the same employers publish instead.

What does JobsPipe return instead of Glassdoor data?

JobsPipe does not collect Glassdoor. It returns the same employers' postings from LinkedIn, Indeed and the collected ATS boards, filtered with company_name_or, each with a posting date, discovery date, status, closed date and ghost score. Salary comes from the range stated on the posting, not from self-reported data, and company reviews are not covered.
