Is Revelio Labs reliable?
Yes. Revelio Labs is an established workforce data vendor, founded in 2018, whose figures are regularly cited by major newspapers and used by investors, governments and academic researchers. It documents its sources and its statistical adjustments publicly. The point to understand is that its headline numbers are modelled estimates built from public profiles and postings, not payroll records, so reliability depends on how you intend to use them.
Revelio Labs is open about the limits. Its FAQ says that no good source of ground truth exists for company headcount: regulatory filings leave out contingent workers, and profile counts miss everyone without a profile. To correct for that it weights each profile by how likely that role and location is to be represented online, adjusts for mapping errors and fake profiles, and uses a nowcasting model to account for the delay before people update a job change. As a result its headcounts are often higher than a company's reported figure, by design. It also offers two treatments of acquisitions, a pro-forma view that folds a subsidiary into its parent retroactively and a point-in-time view suited to back-testing.
